I enjoy your substack. I retired at 60, but over a year later I am struggling with the label and finding projects that seem worthwhile. I've started writing a sub stack to share the first pangs of retirement and the angst of getting used to a slower pace and fears that s!owing down slows the brain as well. I'd love to have some advice on this!
Great book Bec. I’m finding I now refer to it regularly as I make and update my retirement plan. Also love the regular insights in your emails. I look forward to them.
PS I am so happy your book is doing so well. I must check it out! Have been recommending you to some 50-something friends who envy my semi-retired state. I don’t have a crystal ball on what the future holds, so tell them to get informed! Far too many women, even younger ones, don’t do that.
I was also shocked to hear how low their superannuation funds were compared to their partners and how much the funds were being eroded by fees.
Thank you for the retirement updates Bec. I knew the number of retirees was expected to increase, but I’m surprised to see the trend is well and truly here. Another aspect you mention is the number retiring to care for someone. People either don’t want to use aged care facilities or can’t afford them, the good ones at least. I remember being part of the ‘sandwich’ generation when I was younger and it was difficult at times taking care of a child and being there for older parents. It must be so much harder to look after someone when you’re older.
